Procedures for Acceptance of New Registrations
2008 - 2009 School Year
Please accept this as notice of our procedures that must be followed for all new registrations to Almadina Language Charter Academy. Please note that all new applications are being processed at the Mountain View Campus located at 2031 Sabel Drive S.E., Calgary, Alberta.
1. All students who are from outside Canada must show their Canada Immigration Record of Landing Form (Visa) with expiry date.
2. Students who are Canadian born must show their Canadian Provincial Birth Certificate.
3. Students who live in Alberta must show Alberta Health Care Card. If they have moved from another Canadian province, they must provide the Health Care Card from the province in which they came from. We request the Alberta Health Care Card as soon as they have obtained it. It is legal to use another provincial Health Card for 3 months.
4. The student must show their Record of Immunization. This applies to both Canadian born and students who are new to Canada.
5. We will request the most recent Report Card from the current school that they are enrolled in. Failure to produce a current Report Card will mean that the registration will not be accepted. Almadina Language Charter Academy is an ESL school with a specialized language acquisition model. We will not accept any student requiring Special Education or Behavior Adaptation programming. We do not have the resources to meet these special education needs.
6. Only completed applications with all the required documentation will be approved for admission. Applications will not be accepted for processing if the necessary documentation is missing.
7. A completed Registration Form signed and dated by a parent is required.
8. No student registration will be considered for approval until the testing and assessment process is completed. Only complete applications with all required documentation, testing and assessment will be considered for approval by school administration.
9. New applications will be accepted from March 1, 2008 for ECS placement. Priority will be given to new ECS registrations with older siblings already in attendance at Almadina. New ECS students will be assessed to ensure that they have the appropriate readiness skills necessary for a full day ECS program.
10. The current ECS students will be tested for placement at the appropriate Grade 1 language learning level.
11. New applications will be accepted from April 1, 2008 for Grades 1 - 9 testing and placement at the appropriate language learning level.
12. The Vice-Principal and Office Manager are responsible for ensuring that all records are accurate, up-to-date and meet Alberta Education guidelines before being submitted electronically to Edmonton.
